After years of having to deal with the trauma and stigma of people getting to know she was HIV positive. A 23 years old thai lady by name Suthida Sangusmart, is suing the hospital where she was wrongfully diagnosed of the disease many years ago.
Suthida Sangsumart father died from Aids, when she was just eight year-old.
She said she’s been on HIV medication right from when she was diagnosed of the disease.
And also suffered emotionally because of the stigma that came from the public, getting to know she was HIV positive.
She was tested by a doctor at Suvarnabhumi Hospital in Roi Et who diagnosed her of been HIV positive from her test result.
“I started taking the medicine on HIV since then. I had to move to Samut Prakarn province after people in my hometowndisliked me because of my father’s death and the doctor’s diagnosed that had Aids “, She said.
She got married and her husband didn’t care about her disease She had doubts that the first test that diagnosed her of been HIV positive might be wrong.
A pregnancy at 19 forced her to carry out another test that came out NEGATIVE. N ot convinced herself she went to other hospitals to have several tests carried out, with each result reading NEGATIVE.
In the company of her lawyer Songkran Achariyasab, on thursday she went for a live test result at a Thai clinic with the media watching ,two blood test was carried out and the result read negative.
In the revelation that she was HIV negative Suthida Sangsumart wept bitterly .
Suthida Sangsumart wants a disciplinary committee action set up against the hospital doctors, where she was wrongfully diagnosed of been HIV positive. She wants the hospital to take full responsibility for their mistake .
A visit to Roi Et hospital where she was wrongfully diagnosed met with the absence of it’s director Dr Chuchai Temtanakitpaisarn was said to be away for a meeting.It
