Beijing enterprises midfielder, Cheick Tiote who was also a former Newcastle United player in England, was confirmed to have collapsed and passed away during a training session in the Chinese capital on Monday.
He was taken to the hospital, report says; But he died nonetheless at a bitter age of 30 years, after the emergency treatment being given to him proved to be not successful.
The ivory coast midfielder who plied his trade with Anderlecht, Twente, Newcastle and after his side’s relegation, he appeared just once in their 2016-2017 Championship fixtures, which prompted him to secure a move away from the club in February.
Tiote’s representative Emanuele Palladino was believed to have broken the news in a statement that read:
“It is with deep sadness that I confirm that my client Cheick Tiote sadly passed away earlier today after collapsing in training with his club Beijing Enterprises,”
“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers.”
Tiote played for Ivory coast between the years 2009 and 2015 scoring just once.
Our prayers are with his family and friends. May he REST IN PEACE.
