Javier Macherano scored his first goal in 7 years for Barca, as they sent Osasuna to the second division with a 7-1 win.
Macherano scored from the penalty spot to end his Goal drought for Barcelona. Almost seven seasons and over 300 games have passed since the Argentine arrived at Camp Nou, and he finally broke his duck on Wednesday.
Incredibly, the former West Ham and Liverpool star had never previously scored in Blaugrana colours, despite playing for the club for almost seven seasons.
But when Denis Suarez was fouled in the 18 yard box at Camp Nou with Barca already at 5-1 up, Mascherano stepped forward to convert the penalty.
He beat Salvatore Sirigu to finally score a goal for Barca and end a run of 319 games without hitting the net even once.
Ivan Rakitic initially picked the ball up but with a four-goal lead the Croatia midfielder handed the ball to Mascherano and he confidently smashed the ball into the roof of the net.
Lionel Messi, Andre Gomes and Paco Alcacer all scored twice to add to Mascherano’s strike as Luis Enrique’s side stayed top of the La Liga table, 3 point clear of Real Madrid.
