The nine persons murdered by herdsmen in Akaa Local Government Area of Benue State have been buried. They were killed by herdsmen on the 7th of may this year at about 4pm Nigerian time. The families of the deceased at the funeral described the killings as horrific.
Eight Fulani herdsmen have so far been been arrested as regards the killings. they will be charged to court immediately pending conclusion of investigations.
A pro-ranching pressure group, Movement Against Fulani Occupation also described the killing as a direct affront on the State government’s peace effort through ranching, as a sustainable way to achieve peaceful co-existence.
The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Liaison, Mr Baba Acka, insisted on the implementation of the law.
