Pastor Adeboye of Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), visited the Ooni of Ife some days back and sparked up some level of controversy and protests fromsome members of the Yoruba community, as he was allowed by the Ooni of Ife to sit on the Royal chair.

The Ooni of Ife, being a king, by tradition is supposed to sit in the tallest chair in the room, but he offered his seat to Pastor E.A Adeboye and sat on the lesser chair.

When asked of his reasons for his action, he said that the Redeem Pastor represents God and God is supreme to all Kings, so it was only right to offer his seat to the Pastor.

This has piled to the many controversies involving the manner and way the Ooni of Ife rules the Yoruba land. He has revolutionized some old beliefs and is even regarded as the “Modern King”.
